Chardham refers to the four Hindu religious sites in the state of Uttarakhand in India. These are Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath. These 4 sites lie in the lap of the royal Himalayas and are the epicenter of religious activities in North-India. Traditionally, the Chardham Yatra is carried out from West towards East. So the Char Dham yatra starts from Yamunotri, then proceeds to Gangotri and finally to Kedarnath and Badrinath. Among the Char Dham, Yamunotri and Gangotri are dedicated to goddesses Yamuna and Ganga respectively. On the other hand, Kedarnath is dedicated to Lord Shiva while Badrinath is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. In addition, people also visit Hemkund Sahib in the area, one of the highest religious sites in the country. Therefore, pilgrims visit all these places with the desire to wash away their sins and attain salvation through the blessings of the Lord.

The great Himalayas are known as the abode of several Hindu gods and Uttarakhand is home to several of the holiest Hindu temples. There are four very famous temples named Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath which are popularly known as Chardham and the trip to these four holy shrines is called Chardham Yatra package.

Yamunotri : The westernmost shrine of Yamunotri is one of the most visited shrines in the Chardham Yatra package and is located near the source of the Yamuna river. The Yamunotri Temple, built by the Tehri Garhwal King Maharaja Pratap Shah, is located on the left bank of the Yamuna River. The river is considered the divine mother and goddess of all Hindus and played an important role in the development of civilization in northern India.

Gangotri : Located on the banks of the Bhagirathi River at an altitude of nearly 3200 m above sea level, Gangotri Dham is considered one of the holiest shrines of Hindus. Gangotri occupies an important place in the Chardham tour package. The Gaumukh Glacier, known as the source of the Ganges, is on a trekking route from Gangotri. Tourists who want to visit Gaumukh Glacier require government permission.

Kedarnath : Kedarnath Temple is considered the holiest of the pilgrimage places most revered by Hindus. There are 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and Kedarnath is one of these 12 Jyotirlingas, located near the source of Mandakini river at an altitude of 3,585 m above sea level. To visit this temple, one has to take a 14 km long trekking trail from Gaurikund. However, you can also visit the temple by helicopter tour from Phata. This temple is located at the highest point of Chardham Tour Package and has very low oxygen levels.

Badrinath : The most famous and most visited dham in Chardham is Badrinath, also known as Badri Vishal, the fourth dham. With Neelkanth peak in the background, it lies between Nar and Narayan peaks. Badrinath was the most respected and greatest of the five Badris, also known as Panch Badri. Badrinath is one of the Indian Char Dham (four dharmas) established by Adi Guru Shankracharya.

Chardham Yatra Tour Package 10 Nights / 11 Days from Rishikesh

Day 01: Start from Rishikesh
Pick up from Rishikesh (Hotel/Train Station/Dehradun Airport) and transfer to Hotel. After your arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. Relax at the hotel and visit the local market in the evening.

Day 02: Haridwar to Barkot (240kms/7hr)
After breakfast, drive to Barkot via Dehradun and Mussoorie. On the way, visit Kempty Falls and others will then drive straight to your hotel for an overnight stop.

Day 03: Barkot to Ranachatti to Yamunotri to Ranachatti to Barkot (15kms drive and 6kms Trek (one side))
Drive to Phool Chatti, start your trek to Yamunotri (7 km). Or walk, horseback or by Doli at your own expense. Arr. Yamunotri, one can cook rice by wrapping the rice in a cloth and soaking it in hot water in hot kund. Pilgrims bring this rice dish home with the name "Prasad".Here, near the temple, you can offer "Pooja" to Divya Shila, after bathing in the warned waters of Jamunabai Kund and taking the "Darshan" of the pious "Yamunaji" in Hanumanchatti. Then return to Barkot. Night at the hotel.

Day 04 : Barkot to Uttarkashi (130kms/4hr) Morning after breakfast, drive to Uttarkashi to visit Vishwanath temple. Set up at hotel and stay overnight.

Day 05 : Uttarkashi to Gangotri to Uttarkashi (100kms/3hr each side)
We are heading towards Gangotri (3048 meters), on the way we enjoy the picturesque Harsil village, the Bhagirathi river and the most magnificent views of the Himalayas. After Gangotri Darshan, we returned to Uttarkashi. Night in Uttarkashi.

Day 06 : Uttarkashi to Rudraprayag (175kms/6hr)
Early morning drive to Rudraprayag on the way to visit Tehri Lake. Installed at hotel, overnight stay.

Day 07 : Rudraprayag to Kedarnath (75kms by road and 14kms Trek)
Morning, leave for Gaurikund, start the trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath (3584 m) by foot or horseback/Doli. Tour members should carry personal medicine, thick wool, toiletries and clothes for the overnight stop at Kedarnath. Check in at hotel. Then visit Kedarnath Temple. Night stop.

Day 08 : Kedarnath to Rudraprayag (14Kms Down Trek and 75kms/3hr by Road)
Early morning, after Darshan Temple, descend to Gaurikund. Then drive to Rudraprayag via Guptkashi. Installation at hotel in Rudraprayag. Night stop.

Day 09 : Rudraprayag to Badrinath (165kms/7hr)
Road to Badrinath via Joshimath. Check in at hotel. Late evening, visit Badrinath Temple for Aarti. Stay one night.

Day 10 : Badrinath to Rudraprayag(165kms/7hr)
Early in the morning, pilgrims after bathing at Taptkund have Darshan of Badrivishal. Brahamakamal is very important for the ancestral Pinddan Shraddh (Pitrus). There are other interesting tourist spots like Mana, Vyas Gufa, Maatamoorti, Charanpaduka, Bhimkund and "Mukh" of Saraswati River. It is less than three kilometers from Badrinathjee. Then return to Rudraprayag. Stay one night.

Day 11 : Rudraprayag to Rishikesh
Early morning return to Rishikesh. On Arr. Rishikesh, transfer to railway station/Dehradun airport. End of tour.
